Work in progress….

Busylizzie Art is currently working on the designs for a divers groups of projects….

1. Somerset County Councils’s School Library Services, R4L in Bridgwater, is about to have an original Busylizzie large(ish) scale wall painting in the entrance lobby, which will include a Dr Seuss quotation….. Liz will be painting on Wednesday and look out for photo diary updates here!

2. Stand Against Violence Charity CEO Adam Fouracre and Busylizzie Art are at present in collaboration on some illustrations to portray Lloyd’s life story eventually in book form. In the first instance, the illustrations will be used to aid the presention of this true story and to complement the anti-violence workshop work at Primary School level…. Time is being spent trawling through family photos in an attempt to be faithful to this tragic real-life story, but also finding the elements which will ring true with those who later reflect on its powerful effect in changing young lives….

3. Wedding invitations and stationery themed on Harry Potter and the Maurauder’s map, but telling a real-life story of love over adversity, is another project bubbling under the surface that Busylizzie Art is raring to get going on – it’s going to be exciting creating the interpretation of a story in intricately  detailed artwork…. Footprints, a lizard, entwined rings…..
Once the work commences in earnest, it will be documented in pictures for you to see – please revisit to see the progress in each area…

Did you know that Busylizzie Art also produces hand-made wedding stationery crafted from original watercolour paintings???

Liz of Busylizzie Art will meet with you to discuss your ideas and then produce paintings especially for you to choose from to create your totally individual range of wedding  invitations, save the date cards, name cards, seating plan, favour bags etc…

Finishing touches added to complete the playroom…

Daisies, a ladybird and a caterpillar  have been added to the left of the recessed bookcase, along with the names of the children arching over..

The children can be encouraged to find and count the ladybirds climbing stems and leaves, seek out the caterpillars exploring their ‘natural’ environment and the ‘buzzing’ bees, investigating the flowers.

The letters of the alphabet hang off the branches in alphabetical order, with the vowels picked out in primary red…encouraging young children with letter & sound recognition…

One echinacea, two sunflowers and three daisies….Two hedgehogs,  three bees, four caterpillars – endless possibilities for conversation and exploration!!!!

Any space can be enhanced in a similar style, though every design will be unique and created specially… Contact Liz, of Busylizzie Art to arrange an initial meeting.

Beach huts and crabby creatures complete the surf bedroom…

The last  finishing touches have been added to the surf bedroom begun last week…. The beach huts took shape…

Herman the hermit crab emerging from his shell…

And the starfish…

And the designs completed on the surf boards…

If this interests you or your child maybe, for their bedroom design…..do get in touch!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmastime…

Working on some Christmas Wishes…

An interesting little project I’m working on that is just for my personal pleasure and satisfaction…

It’s so lovely to indulge myself by working on a mini-project to please me! So here are some photos of my developing ideas for wishing my friends and family, the season’s greetings…

Not sure where I’m going with this…but I’d better get on with it if I’m to produce cards for this Christmas!!!

Surf bedroom takes shape…

Having completed the preliminary art work for this commission, I set to work on Tuesday with the background colour, sky, but encountered several obstacles on the way…. That moment I began to paint, I just knew  the colour was just not right….I kept on painting a bit more, then a bit more and then stopped… I had to remix the paint and begin again….

So, day two was full-on with lots of time to make up…. creating the sea and surf, blending the shades of blue, frothing the summit of the wave with white foam…. Adding sand and the outlines of the surf-boards….

The story behind the surf boards lies with a five year old, hopelessly hooked on marvel comic characters, especially Spider-Man, but not the main theme ‘Mum’ would like for the bedroom! I dreamed up the idea of using the surf boards to encapsulate the young man’s current choice of design, then as he changes his favourite character, the surf boards can be painted over with whatever is the new first choice….

Now all that is left are the designs for the boards…… Following soon….

Ethel the hen…

Adorning the walls of my newly refurbished kitchen are some of my new “poultry” friends: Ethel the hen and Clive the cockerel, along with Susan, also a hen. Painted in emulsion directly onto the soft pear green walls, these charming characters bring a little life into the room!

We decided to revive our rather ‘tired’ kitchen by renewing our doors and work surfaces, replacing dark oak with painted cream, shaker-style doors and dull green laminate with a light oak block effect. Result – a light, bright contemporary feel. The beautiful eclectic mix of green and white ceramic knobs, we found at “Knobbles and Bobbles” via eBay and the chicken knobs at a little gift shop in Somerton, Somerset.

….and so I began to dream of chickens and bunting filling various spaces around the room….and the painting began….

First Ethel and Clive appeared in full colour – orange and red but quickly were over-painted in more muted tones to suit the rest of the kitchen…..
